Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

8:38 average pace.  Felt pretty good, aside from all the phantom twinges and tweaks I am experiencing 24-7.  Hip and foot are doing well.  So, on Sunday it is supposed to start at 35 degrees and end up in the 60's.  What DO you wear? Shorts and a parka?

lol. that's a good idea. this sounds like very similar weather to many of the utah marathons because they take you up the canyon to high elevations where it's cold...but then the valley is toasty warm.

so, this is what i wear:

-shorts

-short-sleeved shirt with homemade arm warmers - a pair of socks. usually i trash the socks around 3-5 miles.

-gloves - wear them until the hands get sweaty (sometimes i will keep them on the whole race)

-if you are prone to being cold a lot, wear a long sleeved shirt - a comfortable and breathable one if you are planning on wearing it the whole time, or a trashy one that you can shed and don't mind losing.

-the trick is to go to the starting line warm. bring an old blanket or something that will keep you toasty, then ditch it right before the start. i have found that if i sit around freezing cold waiting for the start, it takes me a lot longer to get warm and find my groove.

-good luck! you are going to do great.

Yes, you are going to do great. I agree with Allie.

Hope you find the right clothes to wear. And keep taking it easy...

Yes keep those gloves and arm warmers on until you are absolutely sure you don't want them on. I was still freezing at mile 13!!! The sun came out soon afterwards : DDD. Nice easy run for you. I found the doll and removed the pins for you.

Allie--thanks so much for the advice! I'm going to get some socks today and cut the feet out and try them out tomorrow on my little run.

Eric--thanks! I am enjoying taking it easy!

Julie--thanks for getting the pins out!!! Only 4 more days and then tweaks and twinges or no I'm off!!!
