Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

8:34 average pace.  Nice morning run with the tribe!  Afterwards I drove to the Easter Sun Run 10k and cheered for a tribe member and my sister-in-law.  They did really good.  The guy who won it ran it in 29 something.  Wow!  That is amazing, especially considering that course is not particularly fast with all the corners it turns.  The girl won in 35 something.  Wow!  7 days to the marathon.  Deep breath.  Now I really need to just rest.

Sounds like a fun morning run, followed by a fun race to watch! I am always amazed at how fast some people run 10k's! Glad your little girl is feeling better :)

PS: Enjoy your taper & rest up - you will be flyin' in your marathon!!

This taper stuff is the hard part for me now. I know I am not going to build any new fitness in the next 7 days but each slacking day after the other I start to feel heavy and fat and more and more nervous about the race. This is only my second marathon so I am still a novice and have doubts about my ability to finish. I have all these thoughts like "What if I hit the wall?" or "What if I go out too fast?" or "is my time goal too aggressive and I am just asking for a crash and burn at the end?" Taper madness!

We ALL feel that way, I think! Just know that you trained well, you trained hard, and you CAN hit your goal if the marathon gods are on your side. Sometimes things happen, but most of the time I think we do what we are capable of doing!!!

I think you are going to do great, I have no worries.

Tapering is tricky, though. you do start to feel yucky, that is why I avoid it!!! I have been reading about it online all afternoon, I still do not have it figured out.

What a week you've had April! I kept thinking your 'house on fire' story was going to end in an "April Fools Day" scenario, only to find it was REAL! Wow, I'm so glad your kids were all ok! That's scary. As for your running, how awesome that you stuck to your speedwork and gleaned some inspiration from Michelle! I love it, and that's why I really love this blog! Such great strength we can draw from each other. Good luck with your taper, , , , you will do so great on your marathon. I agree with you: rest, rest, rest!

I agree with what's been said. Just one more week of the taper madness! Have confidence and faith in all your hard work and training. Relax, store up the energy. You will do AWESOME!
