I accidentally ran 100 miles in November 2013.  it was hard.  I threw up a lot.  decided to do a better job next time

I did it again on purpose October 2014--Heartland 100 winner and CR 17:38:37

Sub 3 hour marathon--SOMEDAY!  Done!

 

New long term goal:  ....run enough to feel kinda like I did when I was fit

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.  
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

6:51 AP.  Treadmill day.  Interesting thing about 9 days so far with no caffeine: I think it helps running for two reasons. One:  I have a crazy work schedule but can nap anytime when I get the opportunity--no difficulties falling asleep and this is coming in handy.  I have never just been able to lay in bed and sleep for 30 minutes without having difficulty falling asleep.  Such is not the case anymore.  Two:  I think my heart rate is more under control and thus I can tolerate faster speeds with same or less effort.

1 mile warm up 8:27.  2 miles up 4% at 7:30 pace(climbing Veyo, Kansas style), 5 miles down -2% 6:27, 6:22, 6:18, 6:15, 5:56.  I felt great and wasn't even fatigued and could have easily kept going but didn't want to tempt injury or overtraining so reluctantly ended the workout.

I think you are going to kick my can at SGM. I don't think I could do that workout. I am wondering why we don't however have TMs that can go negative. That would be nice. SERIOUSLY APRIL YOU ARE RUNNING QUITE SOLID. Make sure to pinch me when you fly be me at mile 0.2. : D

Dang those are CRAZY paces, I don't care if it's downhill.

Not sure what your plan is, but if you can survive until the race with no caffeine and then take caffeine gu's during the race I bet it'll be a huge boost. It's definitely a performance enhancer but when you drink it all the time (like I do) I'm guessing it loses some effect.

Interesting stuff about caffeine, have never heard that before and it makes sense to me. I tend to stay away from it too (other than chocolate), but most runners seem to use it all the time. You might be on to something.

I keep thinking it must be easier somehow on the treadmill and wonder if on a real-life downhill I would survive those paces or not. Julie I don't think I'm going to kick anyone's can...not real sure where I am on the endurance side of things!
