Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

a.m. Me and Vanessa are at Kim's watching Lexi.  Did 4.5 at 8:30 pace on the treadmill.  I think I'm starting to get my legs back.  Planning on more this p.m.  Job interview at 2!

p.m.  4 at 7:57 average pace in my new nike avants.  I am in love with those shoes!  They are light yet have just enough cushion to protect my feet!  Oh they feel great!   I got the job!  I will be working home health, mostly setting my own hours, starting in two weeks.  Monday I put my two weeks notice in to EMS, but I am going to stay on part time because I am just not quite ready to give up my beloved ambulance.  I have worked on one for 8 years and I am afraid to stop cold turkey.

Woah, you're actually running this week?! I could barely walk for days, much less run after my last marathon. I took a full week completely off. Sounds like you are recovering well!

Oh, just noticed the update - congrats! That sounds like the perfect job for a dedicated runner and mother.

Congrats!

Sounds like the recovery is going well. Have you been buying more shoes? I'll have to get my act together...

Funny that I have the same idea as you with going back to 5k after the marathon--just need to make the legs go fast again

Thanks for the congrats everyone! I would love to pr a 5k in a week but remember from last time that my legs were just sorta stale for a month after the marathon so I will not be horribly disappointed if I can't quite pull it. I do want to touch base with speed again for the next few months and hopefully eventually end up with some pr's this summer. Chris my shopping spree ended up in 3 pairs of shoes--the racing flats, the nike lunar avants, and some asics gel pulse that I haven't broken in yet. All my other shoes are at the 500 mile mark and while they worked and served me well, I didn't especially like them and wanted to try something different. I am still quite enamored of those nike avants, they are only a little over 7 ounces but seem to protect me from the pounding quite well. I felt great running in them, even with the lingering soreness.
