I accidentally ran 100 miles in November 2013.  it was hard.  I threw up a lot.  decided to do a better job next time

I did it again on purpose October 2014--Heartland 100 winner and CR 17:38:37

Sub 3 hour marathon--SOMEDAY!  Done!

 

New long term goal:  ....run enough to feel kinda like I did when I was fit

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Personal:

I was a single mom.  Two times over.  We all survived, despite the fact that I make atrocious decisions.  Then, I met a man I didn't deserve.  And he loves me so much.  And I love him. We lived in sin and bought a house for two years then hired a judge and officially got married(to our great delight and also the delight of our mothers), then a month later he was diagnosed with cancer.  Well we survived all that and he's 100% fine now.  But, we're really out of shape and really busy with kids and jobs and running just isn't my priority and there's so many other layers to all of it, but I'm running anyway.  This is my failure blog now.  Just to log that one run a week if I snag it.  
Somehow that matters and I want that run recorded.

Drove up to Abilene this morning and directed runner traffic on the Eisenhower Marathon course.  I remember being confused at the "Y" where I stood and directed runners--I wasn't surprised at how many tried to go the wrong way!  It was fun cheering for my comrades and watching a marathon from a whole other perspective.
60 minute pool run.  5 minute warm up.  Ladder 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1  minutes hard with one minute easy between intervals, 2 minutes easy, then 5 x 1:30 hard with 30 seconds easy, 3 minutes easy, then 2 45 second sprints with 15 seconds in between--got my heart rate up to 200 here, kept it over 160 on the intervals.  5 minute cooldown.

Nice busy running day. That is a very high heart rate, especially for not being in a race. Just curious, how do you track it in the pool?

The lucky first place lady should have slipped you a 20 as she ran by! On the occasions I've been injured I always get jealous of all the happy running people I see...nice of you to go out there anyway.

Flat--I count my carotid pulse right after the intervals for 15 secnods and multiply times 4. I don't do it every interval, but usually 3 to 4 times during the workout to make sure I am keeping the intensity up and motivate myself to keep at it and get the numbers up on my heart rate.

Joe--I actually had a really good time, and had a lot of fun when the runners cam through between miles 23-24 thinking of nicknames and encouragement to yell at them. I know how much commentary and motivation is appreciated at that point in a marathon. I got a lot of smiles and waves, requests for shortcuts, and even a few laughs. Some people asked for beer and one even asked for a cigarette(joking). It was fun!

You are so dedicated in your water running! GREAT intervals and hard workout! You will be so much stronger when you return to road running! keep up the good work and awesome attitude!!!
