My girls soccer game for today was rescheduled so we decided last night to run the Undead race this afternoon.  It is a 5k and I am not expecting much.  I can tell that I am not in very good 5k shape right now.  Just hoping to keep it under 20.  I put in a few miles this morning just so that I can get some mileage today.  I would like to get a few in tonight too but do not think it will happen.

The Undead Race

The race was a mess so I won't spend much time on the report.  You could either sign up as a human or the undead with the human's getting a 2 minute headstart.  Emma and I ran as humans and Becky and Gracie ran as zombies.  They decided to change the course after 1/2 mile.  I am not saying that the course was different at the 1/2 mile mark but they actually changed it while we were running.  Because of this everybody ended up running different distances.  I had no idea how much I was going to end up racing and really lost focus at this point and just cruised the rest of the run.  It was so crowded that it was impossible to get into a good groove anyway.  My race ended up being 3.3 miles while Becky only ran 2.5.  I hit the 5k mark at 19:36 which was slow but the time that I expected.  It will be interesting to see how the organizers handle this since they were offering cash prizes.  I don't know why people insist on making things so much more difficult than they need to be.

Wow that sounds like a crazy race. I've been in plenty of races where the distance was wrong but never one where they changed the course part way thru the race! Silliness!! Nice job hanging in there thru the confusion and still getting a respectable time.

what a race! i ran 2.6-something and was ducking around people saying "excuse me" the whole time. my favorite part was the bottle neck going into the parking lot on the second loop where everyone was standing still. just think of it as a halloween party with some running mixed in. :) nice job making it through -- i'd say that's an excellent time considering everything that went on.

That doesn't sound like the most well-organized race. If nothing else, it was a great workout!

Interesting. :)

How is Becky's knee?

That's nuts! The Zombies must have organized the race.
