A pretty uneventful run.  Ran the usual loop at the usual pace.

Even if uneventful, at least you've already got a run in today, which is more than I can say.

I have a question for you. you ran St.george last year at 2:53. That is an awesome time. I was wondering if you would tell me what was your race stratagy. I want to come in around 2:50

what is your goal time this year?

I love this time of year also. St. george is actually cool agian.

Thanks

Bill,

Last year I completely ran the race by feel (I had a watch to record splits but didn't let it dictate my pace). My goal was just to break 3 hours. I averaged 6:35/mile for the first 7 miles which was too fast but since I was running by feel I wasn't concerned. I ran the Veyo mile in 7:28 and averaged 7:04 through the Dammeron Valley. I averaged 6:38-6:40 for miles 13-20 then opened it up and burned up whatever was left. Ran 6:25 or better for the remaining miles (except mile 22 which was slow for some reason). I ended up running a 5 minute negative split (1:29:20/1:24:26) which bothered me at first but looking back it was appropriate for the course.

Right now, I'm looking at 2:55 for St George. I'm running TOU 2 weeks before and know that will cost a couple of minutes. Also, my running and racing just haven't felt right this year so I don't think that a PR will be in store.

Good luck.

thanks for your feed back. good information. good luck at TOU. I like the idea of 6:35 pace and avg 7:04. In the past i start falling apart around mile 14. even with the down hill.

thanks for the info.
