After a 2.25 mile warm up ran 4 miles at tempo pace (6:35, 6:35, 6:23, 6:19). Cooled down for a couple miles then ran the last mile at MP-10 sec. I was surprised at how good that I felt.

How did you measure the distance, and what kind of terrain?
I use a Garmin Forerunner 201 to measure my runs. The first 2 miles are flat and there is a slight elevation drop the last 2 miles (about 75 feet according to gmap-pedometer). That explains the pick up the last 2 miles.

It does appear like you are making a small or possibly not so small breakthrough in endurance. We will see what happens in TOU/St. George.
