The snow was very pretty while it was falling.  Unfortunately the fluffy layer it left on top of the ice on the road was very slippery.  My achilles tendons are starting to get sore so it may be time to start rotating in a new pair of shoes.  They don't seem to be last as long as they used. to.

They don't last as long cause you put so many miles on them so fast. Do you have snow spikes to run in? In RunnersWorld this month they had an article about putting screws in the soles of your running shoes to turn them into snow shoes. I skipped that article since I don't expect any snow hear in the desert.

From Smooth on Tue, Dec 16, 2008 at 14:33:29

Yeah, it's hard to see the ice with the fluffy snow on top. I've never run with spikes before. What do you think, Andy? Running on snow may do a number on the archilles. I too notice my shoes don't seem to give as much mileage worth as before.

I don't think the Adrenaline 8s last nearly as long as the 6 & 7 versions....I lost a goodly sized portion of outsole on 2 pair now by 300 miles, where my 7s lasted to 600 miles. I started feeling "things" earlier with them too...maybe the new MoGo stuff they're using?

What?? An 8-miler? Who would have ever guessed!! :)

(how's the irongym coming along?)

From Andy on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 07:36:48

Apparently my consistency and predictability have been the cause of many of my other other problems in life. I guess I better mix it up a little. The iron gym has been good. I'm getting better at chin ups but still struggle with the standard pullups.

I double dog dare you to run 7.99 miles on your next run!!!

From fly on the wall on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 10:11:44

Consistent + Predictable = Dependable ≠ Problem.

Erratic + Fickle = Reckless = Problem.

Looks like Fly is onto something. Forget the 7.99, stick with the 8s!! :)

From Andy on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 11:10:54

While all of that is true, I have discovered that dependable = boring and reckless = fun and exciting.

From Andy on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 11:14:09

BTW - I really shook things up and only ran 6 miles today.

From Teena on Wed, Dec 17, 2008 at 11:34:37

Wow Andy, you really do have a crazy side to you!! :)

How about this, be dependably reckless once in a while -- announce to your loved ones that you are planning a reckless day and go and do something completely fun, exciting, and out of the norm! (Btw, you are NOT boring! Sounds like you have been fed some poor information.)

From fly on the wall on Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 10:41:47

One can be dependable, fun, and exciting. One can be reckless and boring. If someone wants to be reckless, let 'em dance naked in the fast lane during a snow storm- alone. If someone is searching for reckless, tell them to look in the obituaries.
