Solid run.  Started out a little slow but picked it up after the first mile.  Decided to run the 3rd mile at half marathon pace just to see how it felt.  Ended up running it in 6:30 which is slightly faster than my goal pace.  It was a little more work than I would like but it felt sustainable.  I need to focus on hydration today because I was a couple of pounds lighter this morning due to water loss.

Friend, if you drank as much Diet Dew as I do, you would not worry about hydration. Good luck tomorrow.

I decided to reduce my soda intake to one per week. Since I did that, my runs have not gone well. I wonder if my body has gotten so used to it that part of my problem right now is trying to deal with the change. Better load up on Dew today.

You are so disciplined to reduce your soda intake. I'm weak at doing stuff like that.

I am sure it is the caffeine your body wants right? I found a chew that gives me the caffeine without the carbonation. They are called "livewire energy" Not sure if it is really any more healthy but I like to think so. I don't drink soda during the week but I take one of these chews midway through my long run.

Good luck Andy. I'm betting you feel great tomorrow and have one of your best races ever.

Sounds like you are ready to rock it tomorrow!!!

I don't drink much soda. When I'm feeling like I need more fluid and am sick of water I drink guava, mango, or strawberry-banana nectar. Though they're probably not much better than soda.... During taper for a race I cut out all caffeine. Then the caffeinated gel on race day really works.

Good luck tomorrow Andy!
