I bought some KT tape last night and taped my left achilles.  After putting the tape on, there was no pain at all.  I was very hopeful that this would fix the problem.  Once I put my shoes on this morning I could feel a little discomfort.  Drove to the KPT to get in 11 miles before the club run.  Started out at a comfortable pace (around 8:00/mile) and my achilles was killing me.  After 5 miles at this pace I sped up to 7:30/mile and it felt a lot better.  This seemed to be the sweet spot where the pain was the most tolerable.  Met the club (big crowd today) and ran 9 more miles alone.  Some guy caught up to and passed me so I decided to use him as a target and keep up with him.  He was going just under 7:00/mile and I could tell he was really laboring.  After 1 mile he stopped and I passed him while he was bent over holding his kness and gasping for air.  He must have been doing a tempo run.  Other than the achilles pain, I could not believe how great I felt during the run.  It really felt effortless until the last 2 miles which took more concentration.  Maybe focusing on the pain in one spot made me forget about anything else that may have been hurting.  After the run, I took my shoes off and there is very little pain.  There is a noticeable bump on the achilles which I am going to try to roll out with the stick.

Total Time: 2:31:43 (7:36/mile)

Don't kid yourself they guy was trying to beat you and you showed him who's boss!

56 miles this week and you took a day off!

From Andy on Sat, Feb 27, 2010 at 18:19:51 from 198.60.114.178

It was only 4 days running. I took the 2 extra days off in addition to my usual rest day.

From Kathie on Sat, Feb 27, 2010 at 19:31:40 from 63.248.105.188

Ok that is even cooler!

From Teena Marie on Sat, Feb 27, 2010 at 20:29:57 from 174.52.45.85

WOW!!!! How you can run that pace and have it feel so good amazes me.

Your harem ran together today, you know. We decided to honor you by sharing some favorite memory, thought, etc. of you at each mile marker! We had a GREAT time! One of these days you should slow down and run with us. We are fun!!!!! :) :) :)

Seriously ... INCREDIBLE job today.

Hope you are icing and babying that calf.

Nice run. I find that leaving the KT tape on for a few days really helps with the healing... if you can get the stuff to stick for that long.

Very nice 20 miler that you finished nice and strong.

Oh yeah ... enquiring minds want to know: DID YOU SHAVE YOUR LEG?

From Smooth on Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 00:12:02 from 174.23.198.220

WOW! AWESOME 20 miler and 7:30 was the sweet spot amazing! Yeah, Kathie's right about you smoking that guy.

Your harems are all curious if you shaved your leg. Smooth legs are IN!

Yes, roll that bump outa there!

From Andy on Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 00:12:46 from 198.60.114.178

If things were said about me, I get to know what they were. That must have been an incredibly boring conversation. No icing or babying the calf. I spent the day painting and moving furniture. I did not shave but after ripping the tape off I'm thinking that I probably should have.

From Smooth on Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 00:20:05 from 174.23.198.220

Handsome, awesome, fast, focus, deserves to know that some lucky, fun-loving, crazy bubbly girl needs EXACTLY a man like Andy! We all recount the first time we met you. We all agreed that Kathie's your favorite harem. Let see what else? Of course we were incredibly awed by your consistent speediness. Seriously, you will really enjoy the giggles if you'd slowed down to run with your harems one of these days!

Shave baby shave! No need ripping the tape off. It should stay on for a few days.

Now I know where to go when I need a boost in confidence. I only wish half the things you said were true.

From Teena Marie on Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 00:35:26 from 174.52.45.85

They are ALL true!!! :)

From Teena Marie on Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 00:36:03 from 174.52.45.85

((You have to admit, Smooth DOES NOT lie!!! She is the most honest person I know. Really!!!!))

From Smooth on Sun, Feb 28, 2010 at 16:04:00 from 174.23.198.220

Cross my heart, hope to die, to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Your harems are very reliable ears-eyes-witnesses! :)

You just need to BELIEVE in yourself!!!
