Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Does anyone else have a heart rate that is lower at night than it is in the morning? Mine is consistently 5-10 bpm lower right before bed. My only explanation is that my body has to work really hard to wake up...

"I hate waking up..."

"I want to just lay in bed all day...."

haha that is interesting. I just got a new (used) garmin with a HRM so I'll have to try it out and let you know.

So nice to see you running consistently!

Really intense nightmares?

I was having a discussion today about how our resting heart rates are lower due to being in shape. But, we have to workout (i.e. higher heart rate) to get in shape. So, from a number of beats perspective, do we come out ahead?

From Andrea on Tue, Sep 17, 2013 at 20:39:00 from 67.177.11.154

Yes, we definitely come out ahead.

Compare a non-active individual with a heart rate of 70bpm vs. an active individual with a heart rate of 50 bpm but works out for 2 hours/day at 170 bpm. That's a difference of 100,800 beats per day (sedentary) vs. 86,400 beats per day (active). Huge difference and that's with pretty conservative numbers.
