Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 30 minutes of elliptical then yoga. No running today because I'm trying to be safe and not do too much too soon. If I continue to progress and not have any setbacks, I should be up to 40 mpw by the beginning of December. Eight weeks seems like a really long time to get up to that mileage, but that's with two days of no running a week and lots of cross training...I will be thrilled if I finally get out of this injury cycle by then (hopefully a lot stronger and less injury prone too!).

the plan is perfect. no rush. you'll be ready to destroy everyone come the SLCTC winter series. and that's just the beginning...

I know its tough to skip most of the zombie/dracula races, but its the right call. No one has ever won the enitre monster race circuit and then come back and run 1:16 the next year (male or female).

From Andrea on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 09:19:03 from 72.37.171.52

Thanks Allie. I'm already planning the long runs and tempos we can do with Devra during lunchtime in the winter :)

I support the plan! Such discipline, something you have had this whole time despite how emotionally challenging it has been for you. Way to go Andrea.

My goal for the 5K this weekend is sub-25 :)

From Rachelle on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 09:35:19 from 159.212.71.69

Great plan Andrea! If I come up for the fittest state race I'll drop down to the 5k (I'm pretty sure I cannot run 13 mi right now) and we can try our best to pace 24:59. :)

From Jake K on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 09:36:09 from 155.100.226.191

You gotta get 25:00 balloons and run w/ those!

From Andrea on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 09:38:34 from 72.37.171.52

I would feel a lot better if I could at least write in my report that I was the 25 min pacer instead of my legit race time!

From Hamdog Alum on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 10:47:30 from 71.87.124.223

Smart move I think controlled easy run pace is also important. I've noticed you get race sharp really fast. With Jan and Feb not being big months for races you can build a very solid base this winter.

From Andrea on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 10:50:57 from 72.37.171.52

Agreed Erik. You should've seen how excited I was this weekend to run 8 min pace! But I need to make sure to stay in that realm because I can get in race shape quickly and can also burn out and get hurt quickly too!

From allie on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 11:36:23 from 161.38.218.168

hooray for winter lunch runs and ditching work!

i will be right there with you on the 25:00 5k...in fact, i'm not even sure i will pull that off with the trek up 900 south in my legs.

don't forget to make your legs cRaZzZzzZy. i'm covering mine with a bunch of halloween themed tattoos.

But once you break 25, you have to replace the rollerblader girl in your profile with a runner girl.

From Andrea on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 12:09:49 from 72.37.171.52

I was wondering when I can actually make the transition back into a running picture...sub-25 does it?

From SlowJoe on Mon, Oct 08, 2012 at 12:13:00 from 69.131.141.92

That's the rule.
