Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc. 

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 30 minutes of elliptical then yoga. No running today because I'm trying to be safe and not do too much too soon. If I continue to progress and not have any setbacks, I should be up to 40 mpw by the beginning of December. Eight weeks seems like a really long time to get up to that mileage, but that's with two days of no running a week and lots of cross training...I will be thrilled if I finally get out of this injury cycle by then (hopefully a lot stronger and less injury prone too!).

I know its tough to skip most of the zombie/dracula races, but its the right call. No one has ever won the enitre monster race circuit and then come back and run 1:16 the next year (male or female).

Great plan Andrea! If I come up for the fittest state race I'll drop down to the 5k (I'm pretty sure I cannot run 13 mi right now) and we can try our best to pace 24:59. :)

Smart move I think controlled easy run pace is also important. I've noticed you get race sharp really fast. With Jan and Feb not being big months for races you can build a very solid base this winter.

Agreed Erik. You should've seen how excited I was this weekend to run 8 min pace! But I need to make sure to stay in that realm because I can get in race shape quickly and can also burn out and get hurt quickly too!

i will be right there with you on the 25:00 5k...in fact, i'm not even sure i will pull that off with the trek up 900 south in my legs.
