Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM- 25 minutes of merely moving my legs on the elliptical + 20 minutes of yoga...wouldn't even consider it exercise.

It is definitely considered exercise Andrea. I wish we lived closer because I was really wanting someone to go for a long chatty walk with last night. Walking alone is just so boring. Keep your head up.

I read in More Fire: How to Run the Kenyan Way, by Toby Tanser, that the Kenyans take 4 to 8 weeks off each year to let their bodies and minds recover. They don't run at all, they just sit around eating a lot of food and letting things heal up. I know that Bernard Lagat does the same thing and he's pushing PR's in the middle distance events at 38 years of age. Perhaps this is an opportunity rather than a setback?

I just finished an 8 week break with 6 weeks of zero running and I've never had more desire. Things have started out slowly for me but Lagat says it takes a few weeks to get the gears moving. I'm already starting to feel like a runner again.

Keep your spirits up, you'll get past this and be stronger than before.

I'm with Rachelle and Ken. You're gonna get through this and because you've had to deal with it, you'll come back stronger and better for it. Keep on keepin on!

Yoga - I believe is Latin for the most painful and intense excersise known to the inflexible man. It's a loose translation.
