Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

30 minutes total of all the different aerobic machines at the gym to see if I can handle any of them yet. Order of worst to best - recumbent bike, rowing machine, upright bike, stairmaster, elliptical, treadmill. I may actually be able to handle the elliptical on the off-running days soon.

I hear surfing is a really good aerobic workout! Maybe you and Jake should head out to Hawaii and ride the waves at the North Shore!!! :) :) :)

Great experiment Andrea. I agree with Teena. :)

Other crap > Re-injury! :)

Definitely machines are better than reinjury!

After a lot of experimentation, I have decided the stairmaster (as opposed to the actual stairs of the stairmill or whatever its called) is best for me, because (1) no impact; (2) easy to get heart rate up; (3) you can change positions. The third factor was important, because while I preferred the elliptical for a long time, I found that not being able to alter my position or stance on it, meant certain muscles would always be used and others always neglected on it. The stairmaster is also less-impact than elliptical in my opinion, because you dont even have to lift up your foot to keep it going (which helped give my hip flexor and shin issues time to rest)...
