Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 5 miles easy 9:15 pace. I'm running at a pace that keeps my heart rate low and isn't stressing my body at all. It seems to be helping the recovery process because I'm recovering much faster than I thought I would. Although I am still fatigued, nothing in particular hurts and I have no more soreness. It makes me feel like I should've run faster - ahhh!

I've been analyzing the race a million times in my head, and I think it really came down to not enough time and experience under my belt. I've only been seriously running for a year. I have no doubt that my training has been great, but I needed a little more time to race the marathon at such a high level. My half marathon times indicate a much faster marathon, so I think another year or two of keeping the mileage up and doing more long runs will get me where I want to be. I probably won't run a marathon next year - can't say I love the distance like I do the half marathon - but maybe in a couple years after I forget this one :)

Jake found some great photos of us and his friend took some excellent ones as well -

Andrea, what great photos! you look fabulous!

I think that you have a great perspective ... you have plenty of time to learn how to really rock the marathon. You have talent and you know how to put in the work, so it will happen. But, you have to remember to enjoy the process ;-)

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

In the second picture, the woman just in front of you in sunglasses and neon yellow is Sarah Graves from just outside Billings. She wins every women's race around here. If you and Jake ever feel like coming up to a race in Billings to give Sarah a challenge, we've got a place for you to stay.

Great job on your recovery. Even though I've only done 2 marathons & I'm not close to elite, there's lots of "what if's" that still go through my head. It gives me reason to run another one (or 10).
