Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Interval workout. Jake was nice enough to join me again so we warmed up 2 miles then ran 6 x 0.5 mi w/ 0.25 mi jog recovery. Averaged 2:53 (2:56, 2:52, 2:55, 2:54, 2:52, 2:49). It was extremely windy this morning - mostly from the east - so we picked a north and south route so it wasn't a big factor.

great workout in the crazy wind. i'm glad you found a route to minimize the wind factor because it seems like it's just madly swirling in all directions. james just demonstrated how he looked running home from work last night and it included a lot of running in place and running backwards (and screaming and hair poofing).

this will always be one of my favorite runs: http://andreanorth.fastrunningblog.com/blog--AM-WINDY-I-m-writing-in-Italic-bec/12-01-2011.html

I think my eyes were permanently damaged from that run... its why I can't see anything anymore.

Another great post from that morning...

Good work this morning, you looked pretty smooth on those last couple when we started going faster.

Big week for you - yay! I think it is the Hokas :)

Nicely done. I ran pretty much the same pace in July, so I figure in 8 weeks you will similarly be back in 1:17 half shape. No pressure :-) Seriously, looks like you are turning things around. That's right on sub-18 pace, so under recent 5k times.

Nice run Andrea, even with the wind. Today might have been worse than Dec 1 2011-Baskin Robbins must have reinforced their sign after last time-because I never knew which way the wind was blowing.

Looking good, Andrea! Keep it up!
