Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 1 mile just to shake the legs out. Wimpy, I know. BUT I have to keep my mileage down and the very last hard workout (10 days out) is this afternoon! Have to get off work early to do it because it gets dark too quickly.

I got my bib #67. Jake and I compiled a list of all the elite runners yesterday (50 for each of womens and mens) so now we're stalking them all on Athlinks to gauge the competition! If you haven't claimed your races on Athlinks, you should definitely do it so it's easier to stalk :)

PM - Last Chance Workout! Finally! 2 x 5 miles. Splits -

1st 5 miles - 6:21, 6:19, 6:18, 6:11, 6:14. The first 3 miles were the worst of the entire workout - I felt pretty sluggish. Then all of a sudden, I felt great. One mile jog in 7:37.

2nd 5 miles - 6:14, 6:11, 6:09, 6:05, 5:56. Nice negative splits on that one. I felt controlled and strong until the last mile, at about half marathon pace.

Overall a great workout. It accomplished the goal of boosting my confidence a little.

To really go with the whole Biggest Loser theme, I weighed in at 112.2 after the workout. A 1% reduction in one day - I could crush all those contestants!! (don't worry, I promise that I'm not trying to lose weight! I eat more than Jake does and he runs twice as much as me.)

The token morning shakeout is always a good idea!

The lack of information on Athlinks for both you and Jake is the scary thing for the competition.

From Andrea on Wed, Nov 09, 2011 at 11:24:11 from 72.37.244.100

Thanks Rob! That is especially true for Jake - he is definitely in sub-2:18 shape now. If they only knew that they could see every single workout we have done in the past year if they tried a little harder :)

Its a good thing for us that they run the races on the roads, and not on the internet. :-)

Although I am pretty good at the internet.

You guys are hilarious. I am definitely not above a little athlinks stalking though! Have a good workout this afternoon.

I run slow races just to trick people like you ... watch out ... I might decide to show up in Philly, as I am going to PA for Thanksgiving anyway! :)

athlinks stalking is one of my favorite hobbies.

good luck with the workout this afternoon.

Awesome workout!! The hay is in the barn!

Salad only for you on Sunday.

That last .2 is what will really kill you on race day.

From Jake K on Wed, Nov 09, 2011 at 21:42:30 from 67.177.21.60

Haha Rob I am cracking up at that!

I don't think anyone would believe how much Andrea eats, relative to how she looks! Marathon training is good for the metabolism I guess.

From JohnR on Wed, Nov 09, 2011 at 22:19:40 from 71.33.16.10

For what it's worth, I would have been happy with a 2 x 5m workout like that when I was training for marathons (and I was able to run 2:43 and 2:44, so I think you are definitely in that kind of shape). Also I ran 1:17 for a half marathon around the time of those marathons, another indication you are ready for a qualifier.

WOW is all I have to say. Well not really because I love to chat but ABOUT your last BIG workout WOW :D. I eat a lot too and when I cut miles these past few weeks the scale was not pretty for a bit there.

From JulieC on Wed, Nov 09, 2011 at 22:37:03 from 168.103.185.232

btw Andrea ADD the miles to your total mileage :D.

From runningafterbabies on Thu, Nov 10, 2011 at 00:14:09 from 71.195.219.247

Awesome workout. Does Philly have live tracking? I want to watch you pull that 2:42. Go Andrea!!

From Rachelle on Thu, Nov 10, 2011 at 11:20:20 from 159.212.71.199

ha ha good job at kicking all those biggest loosers butts. :)

Seriously awesome workout.

From Andrea on Thu, Nov 10, 2011 at 11:21:31 from 72.37.244.100

JohnR - thanks for the reassurance. I needed to hear that!

Julie - I have been pretty steady at 114-115 for the last month, so anywhere in the 115-116 range would be ideal. So I'm allowed to gain 2 pounds with the cutback in mileage! ICE CREAM!

Melody - They have a link to live tracking, but I don't think it's all set-up quite yet. Here's the website - I'll update as it gets closer. http://results.active.com/pages/page.jsp?eventLinkageID=2467
