Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 2 miles around the block in the mist. I would say 15% progress to how I felt yesterday running. Illiopsoas tightened up a little about a minute before I stopped. Yoga for 20 minutes. Just a little achy in the illiopsoas and ischial tuberosity area now. Good thing I'm in a corner at work and can do e-stim now :)

PM - Pool running for 35 minutes, with hot tub before and after. The hot tub really helped loosen me up.

You can estim while you work? I'd be jumping around all over the place. If it's set too high it kills and if it's too low it tickles. I must not know how to do it right :) I'll be looking for a 30% improvement tomorrow.

15% progress is great! Momentum is building!

Melody - you must be very ticklish or maybe you've been doing it on your PF? That would tickle if I had to do it on my feet!

Way too big of words in this post but I am so glad you are feeling better. :)

I love it when people mention tuberosities. It reminds me of that semester that felt like a year student teaching anatomy.

From Andrea on Tue, Oct 23, 2012 at 14:32:56 from 72.37.244.100

Well I personally hate tuberosities. They are the worst! I hope I never have to mention them again! :)

Here I am in the medical field and I am wondering what is a tuberosity? haha jk. I hope tomarrow your another 15% better:)

Yaay for progress. What are you guys doing in Zion this weekend?

From Andrea on Tue, Oct 23, 2012 at 15:43:59 from 72.37.244.100

Angels Landing, Narrows, Observation Point, and probably some hikes in the Kolob Terrace/Kolob Canyons. You have any specific recommendations?

From Scott Wesemann on Tue, Oct 23, 2012 at 16:06:47 from 66.232.64.4

Those are all good. My favorite hike/run in the park is the East Rim trail. It is 10 miles and is incredible! The only downside is you will have to find a ride or shuttle if you only go one way... or do an out and back for 20 miles :) I saw Kolob for the first time this year when we ran the traverse and was impressed. If you do the Narrows make sure to detour in some of the side slots.

If the water isn't too cold, definitely do some of the Narrows. At least hike up to the first tributary, Orderville Creek.

Thanks! I'll look into those too. We're basically going to do as much as we can without causing any injury pains.

Try the Guacamole Trail. Located just outside of Virgin. Nice single track through Cedars following the canyon rim, leads to a loop through some large whale-backs. Tons of petrified wood.

Angels landing is a great hike, but not for the feign of heart. My heart races just thinking about looking over the edge. I did estim on my of and yes it was a bit ticklish, but I'm happy to report after 25 months, its finally in remission.

I love hot baths/hot-tub after running! Good call. I hope your injury gets better quickly, being injured is no fun.
