Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - Decided that the elliptical was safest this morning - 35 minutes at moderate difficulty. No hamstring problems but the hip is still acting up a little since that silly 3 mile bike ride on Saturday. Gotta stick with what works - gallo-walking, rollerblading, and elliptical-ing. What a joke!

PM - Weight training 30 minutes.

This is an interesting article about minimalist kids shoes

Oh yeah....and The USATF Annual Board Meeting and Elections is scheduled TODAY 6:30pm at the Erickson's, 4725 Sycamore Drive, Holladay, UT 84117. All USATF members can attend. Jake and I want to help get more races on the circuit next year!

Hey at least the change in profile picture suggests some progress!

My bet is that once you finish that cube of Diet Dew, you'll be BACK!

Is there a particular reason your looking at kids shoes? Just kidding, don't get mad.

I am so amazed when I watch my 5 year old run, it's so natural. That kid can run a 16 second 100M in flip flops, I think it's great to encourage minimalist tendencies starting young.

From Andrea on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 10:36:36 from 72.37.171.52

Haha no way - I don't believe in having kids before 30...the 20s is all about fun and no responsibilities!

I wonder if there would be any correlation between what type of shoes/no shoes kids wear and their injury rates/mechanics as they get older...

From Jake K on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 10:38:45 from 155.100.226.191

Haha funny Rob.

Kids should definitely be running "free" in flexible shoes. I think for a while kids running shoes were just scaled-down versions of adult motion control shoes. Not really the best approach. Saucony started making kids Kinvaras and Merrell (and others) have followed that lead.

Sasha was onto this well before the shoe companies were. I thought it was great that Pete Larson said Crocs were the best!

So sorry Andrea! I think Jake should buy you an elliptigo. :)

Push to get some ut county races on the circuit.

1. great new photo

2. great comment about no babies until 30

3. great job on the elliptical

4. thanks for the info on the meeting -- i may try to make it after all. if not, try to get cookie chaser on the circuit.

From RAD on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 13:25:07 from 98.202.23.178

I'm with Rachelle on the elliptigo, totally a good investment :)

No kids until 30?...crap. That is when I finished. I do everything backwards and have to learn things the hard way. Next time I'll get it right...next time.

From Rob on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 14:13:52 from 206.71.84.68

Don't worry about it Rachelle, We'll be the ones laughing in 10 years when we're sittin' on the beach, and going for long mountain runs in the Alps while they're chasing stinky diapered barefoot kids around the house.

Wait a minute, I was 30 when I started having kids. That just means I'm old.

From RAD on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 14:16:49 from 98.202.23.178

Only problem...I've still got 17 years! I WILL be old when I'm sitting on the beach and going for long runs in the Alps. Hopefully, I can keep this speed up for 20 more years....

From Jake K on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 14:17:35 from 155.100.226.191

Rob, I'll be able to tag along on the Alps run... once I achieve my dream of not being a stay-at-home Dad, but a stay-at-home HUSBAND :-)

From Rob on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 14:21:45 from 206.71.84.68

K Jake, lets plan on it. My goal is to run the Mont Blanc Ultra Marathon Championship in 10 years.

I don't think I could be a very good stay at home anything.

From Jake K on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 14:23:53 from 155.100.226.191

I'd definitely be better (ie. less annoying) as a "stay-outside" husband

From NatalieK on Mon, Sep 24, 2012 at 14:37:56 from 24.2.101.184

Yes! I love the new picture. And I love more races...

From MichelleL on Tue, Sep 25, 2012 at 08:10:44 from 144.214.220.20

Very much to each their own on the baby thing, but I have really enjoyed my way, kids in the twenties, competitive in my thirties. I am 35 and my youngest is 8 years old--sweet!!! There's definitely pro's either way.

PS if you have veggie gus I am pretty sure your babies will come out pre-shod with hemp shoes.
