Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - Woke up around 5:15 and started grumbling about how it's too early, then realized I still got 8 hours and need to get over it! Is it sad that I'm 24 years old and go to bed at 9pm? Don't answer that.

Jake and I headed up to Liberty Park and met up with Emily. Warmup 2 miles. I could feel a little tightening in my right leg, but after stretching it seemed fine. Workout was 3 x 2 x 1 mile w/ .5 mile jog between. Splits were 18:25, 11:55, 5:40 (or close to that; I had to make up for cutting a few tangents).  I was well under my target paces of 19:00, 12:20, and 6:00, probably due to the fact that Emily was there and I was rested from the last two days. Workouts are so much better with a partner! I felt very strong today.

The rest of the week is easy - YAY!

PM - Easy 2 miles while getting new tires on my car.

Nice workout! You are just amazing. Enjoy your easy days because you deserve them.

great workout -- way to come in under target (by a lot!) just shows how fit you are.

if my job didn't keep me up, i would go to bed at 9pm every night. i did that all through college and was made fun of to no end...

Nice run, I don't think it will change, I'm 42 and like to go to bed by 9 and still catch crap from my co-workers about my bed time. None of them are up at 5:30 to run either so I get the last laugh.

One of the benefits of being a teacher is the summer sleep ins. However, my 2 year old son tends to spoil those. In a couple of weeks I'll hit a hard dose of what 5:15 runs feel like! Are you and Jake the type that can roll out and just start running or do you need the hour before the run to get the nervous system working? Nice job mastering that workout!

Andrea can be awake and out the door in about 5 minutes. She will sleep absolutely as late as possible. I need about 10-15 minutes, depending on the season. I love not having to "gear up" in the summer like in the winter when you have to put 3 layers on and it actually takes time to just get dressed!

From Andrea on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 18:59:53 from 72.37.244.100

I hate getting up any earlier than I absolutely have to! It was a big leap for me to even run in the mornings, which I had never done before late last year. But I had also never run more than 40 miles/week before then either. The lengths we go to...

This is an amazing workout Andrea!

I have to get up an hour earlier (just to run!!) ... when you get old you have to seriously warm up just to start jogging.

From Hamdog Alum on Wed, Aug 17, 2011 at 23:57:56 from 68.185.190.140

I'm with Bonnie. Wait till you hit your 30's you'll need a good cup of coffee and a breakfast salad or something in your stomach before you start pounding the pavement. Never thought I'd be a coffee drinker until my son came along. Suddenly you find the extra boost goes a long way! Jake I'm not looking forward to zero or below days at 5 in the morning. If we're all running these kinds of miles in the winter we'll need to hire cleaning ladies just to keep up with laundry!

ha ha ha oh Hamdog, if you think the 30's are fun (great workout today BTW) just wait until you hit the late 40s!!
