Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Corporate Games Cross Country 5K! Whew - that was hard. Running on the grass with steep rolling hills really takes the energy out of me quick. Great workout and no pains except fatigue :) Ran about 4 miles before the race.

The course was at the Cottonwood Complex at 4400S and 1300E (same place as high school regionals XC I think). It was three loops of about 1.1 miles. Distance was a little long but time is irrelevant compared to the roads anyway. My breathing was very labored and I felt like I was pushing hard....so the right effort for a 5K. The first lap was the fastest and the last two were about the same.

I was a little disappointed as to how many guys beat me (8), but I'm just getting back into shape and much stronger on the roads. It's been a tough training week with the ultimate exercise vacation + 70 miles for the week....I know, I know, lots of excuses! I do think there is a lot of value in doing something different like this every once in a while.

The rest of the BD Medical team did great - I was very proud and excited to have them come out for the event as well. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that we had to have two girls for scoring, so I think we were disqualified for points. Oh well! Maybe next year I can be in charge and sucker a lot more people (especially girls) into doing it!

Afterwards I got to talk to Emily and Teren Jameson (who won). Nice to see them again! There was quite a bit of activity too with lots of free food, games, activities, etc.  I took about an hour break socializing and walking around. On my run home, I decided to pick it up for a mile at marathon pace (6:21) then jogged the rest of the way. Total of 10.5 miles for the morning.

Jake was nice enough to come over and take a few pics before he went off for his Jeremy Ranch run -

My happy pose, Rachelle-style :)

PM - 3.5 miles easy with Jake before BBQ time!

I would have been glad to come out and mark off the actual 5000 meter course. Done it about a hundred times and wouldn't need a Garmin or a wheel.

Great time out there - especially for 3.3.

Nice job - XC looks hard! I'll stick to the roads and track :-)

Nice run Andrea! Grass and hills are very hard!

From Kelli on Sat, Jul 28, 2012 at 14:52:19 from 67.172.235.55

This is why I did not run cross country! Looks tough!

Great job. And, BTW, none of those things you mentioned are excuses, just an honest evaluation of your week.

You are doing SO WELL, I am happy that things are back on track for you.

Like the happy pose, you do it well.

Great job Andrea! Running on grass is incredibly hard.....I honestly don't even think I could run a 24 minute 5k on grass. You rock!

Your doing pretty good with the thumbs up but your going to have to work on the cheesy smile. :)

I am exhausted just reading about this and seeing the x-countryish pics. Nice job. Especially wowed by the 6:21 marathon pace mile during your cool down.

So I don't "know" you, but I know your super fast. Would love to meet you sometime...you have got years of good stuff ahead of you! Great race! That's a tough course, we had region there last year and was tired just running around yelling at the team :)

Do you win every race you run:) Congrats!

I'm jealous, cross-country style is the best! Nice race.

Thanks everyone!

Lindsey - I'm always looking for more people to run with! Maybe we could get together for a long run sometime soon? I have definitely heard plenty of great stories about you :)

My kids force all my runs to be around American Fork, but if you ever could come down on a saturday morning, I would love to run and chat...my long runs are only 11 miles, you may have to add on after I'm done :)
