Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

2 mile run with a short walk between miles. I ran this morning against my best judgement and the adductor and obliques were definitely weak/tired from the last two days. No damage done, but I have to make myself take tomorrow off (at least in the morning).

This is exciting that you are able to run and building mileage! Once you are healed, you will have a score to settle with having to take so much time off and you will be unstoppable! I'm so excited for you!

Thanks Jackie! I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. I have no more pain coming from the glute, hamstring, TFL, etc. And that is a BIG deal. It's really amazing to me that this oblique tear caused so many problems. I still have a ways to go but it's all about managing the surgical site and increasing strength which I am happy to do in place of the pain! :)

You also probably learned way more in one year about your body than a runner could learn in a lifetime. Being so proficient at being in tune with your body will probably take you farther than if you had not had to deal with this injury. You're building so much momentum right now. I'm glad you are keeping things in check!

Yes I definitely am in tune with my body now and know the difference between the 'I just need a break' injury and 'I have a 3 inch tear in my abdomen that needs surgery' injury :) Hopefully that means a year-long hiatus will never happen again!

It will be really interesting to see how long it takes me to get back to my previous fitness in the half/marathon distance. My guess is 10 months.

Hey you looked pretty good when I saw you! Your form is good, you LOOK the part of a elite runner for sure! :-)

Now we gotta just slowly build you back up.
