Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - Workout at my high school track. Ran 4x1600m w/400m recovery, then 6x400m w/200m recovery. 1600s were 5:46, 5:45, 5:44, 5:47 (10K pace) and 400s were 78, 79, 80, 79, 78, 79 (5K+ pace). I ran the first mile counterclockwise but got paranoid about my hamstring. So I switched directions and didn't have any problems. The mile repeats seemed very controlled and I felt strong through most of the 400s (obviously tired by the end).  I could tell a difference in the altitude difference with my ability to recover from each interval which was nice. A great workout!

PM - Hiked 8 miles at Frozen Head State Park with my parents, 2050 vertical ft. Went up to an old Fire Tower to get views of the area. Beautiful mountains, in a totally different way than those out west. Was pretty exhausted by the end and figured that was enough exercise for one day, so no afternoon run.

Wow - fantastic, impressive. You're ready. Firing on all cylinders at just the right time. Now you just gotta BELIEVE it. We'll go to Portland and Duluth and knock two of those "long-term running goals" out of the park! I'm really happy that the hamstring held up and you were able to do this on the track. Bodes well for next Friday. Take it easy the next couple days now!!!

frozen head state park?! I hear of only horror stories and the terror of the barkley marathons from that place...

I'm glad the directional switch seemed to take care of the issue. Always nice to have a quick fix! :) Great work out there Andrea! Enjoy the family time...I'm jealous.
