Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

Indoor Triathlon -

Elliptical 1 mile, 5% incline - 6:48
Recumbent Bike 4 miles - 15:38

Total time (with transitions) - 34:30

I gotta say, there was a lot of pressure for me to win this silly triathlon. Several guys have come to my cubicle over the past two weeks and told me their times and what I would have to beat. I only wish that this was back in November when I was in tip-top marathon shape!

Warmed up 2 miles, followed by lots of stretching and massaging for my feet. Then hit the treadmill. The time starts as soon as you push start and it took forever to get the treadmill up to 10.5mph. I felt really strong for the first 1.4 miles then got a little tired because I haven't run fast besides a few 200s this year. 11:37 is not too bad - really a relief because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to even hit 6 min/miles with my lack of fast running.

Transitioned to the elliptical and put the resistance at 8. Quite a workout to move the legs at 230 strides/min - I was breathing pretty hard!

Final leg of recumbent bike. The one here at work leans back really far which is kinda awkward when you're trying to pedal fast. Resistance at 8 here too.

My transitions lacked any grace - almost fell off the treadmill and the elliptical :o)

Overall, a great workout. I beat my competition (even despite my lack of fitness) so I have bragging rights now until next time. Also, I beat my time from last year by 1:45 too - I hope that's a good omen!

The biggest accomplishment is that my feet gave me no problems at all! Looks like I'll be able to start tempos in the next couple weeks. Anyways, thought it would be fun to post as a race report.

Holy crap!! I am still trying to wrap my head around the idea of running 2 miles in under 12 minutes. I did not even know treadmills went that fast. Sounds like a lot of fun and awesome that you swept the competition. :)

Even more awesome that your feet didn't bother you. YAY!!

midweek race report!

nice job -- both on beating your time from last year and earning bragging rights. i'm glad you were provided treadmills that go faster than 6:00/mile. also, i'm laughing as i picture you riding sub-4 pace on a recumbent bike.

You rocked the tri way to go!!! Got to feel good to strut around knowing showed everyone you could do it :)

Can you imagine the looks on the faces of your co-workers if you had done this while in peak shape... say, running 5:20 miles? I don't even think they would be able to comprehend that!

Really nice job - way to get the racing season started off! Undefeated in triathlons in 2012!!! I'm also glad you beat all the men in your office!

Way to go! The best news is that your feet are improving :>

I think the most impressive part of your victory was the elliptical portion.

I would throw in the towel before getting on that forsaken piece of equipment

Congrats on the victory!

Nice Tri! I bet you're in better shape than you think. That is a really respectable 2 mile for no speed training. Nice work!

Yes to no pain! Transitions are over rated...sort of:)

New mantra. Memorize it.

Andrea is fast, she never come's last! Yes, she has some pain, but she's managed to stay sane.

She likes a guy named Jake, but we all do for goodness sake!

They're going to to Brazille to take a break. We know she'll reutrn without a single ache!

Nicely done. So great on the miles that you did it so fast and with no pain.

Wow, Andrea. That is super impressive. That sounds like a killer indoor tri. I think I would have preferred swimming in a pool to a one mile sprint on the elliptical - and a recumbant bike?! Those things are really hard to go fast on. Nice work speedy!
