Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 30 minutes on the elliptical. Doctor said still no running through the rest of the week. My used-to-be super conservative goal of being healthy by the new year is not looking good. I'm trying my hardest to do everything right and yet I'm pretty much in the same place as I was in August except 100x more out of shape. Breakdown...Gotta get myself thinking more positive now.

PM - Pool running. Went to Costco - bought a huge stuffed animal and bag of dried mangos that made me feel better :)

Hope it all works out chicky.

If you find that positive attitude can you grab one for me too, roommie :)

From Teena Marie on Mon, Dec 03, 2012 at 15:33:45 from 65.130.109.6

I am so sorry that you are still dealing with this. Hang in there.

From Tara on Mon, Dec 03, 2012 at 18:20:53 from 69.171.187.7

A positive attitude is the only thing you have control of at this time. You have definitely not been lazy during your downtime. I wouldn't say you're out of shape but in a different type of shape. You are the cross training Queen X 10, to the umph degree, on steroids (literally:) Keep it up Andrea, then write a book about it when you go to the Olympics.

I shouldn't admit this but often times I pretty much live on those dried mangoes and the dried coconut. :) (Have you tried the coconut yet ... yummy!!!)

From Andrea on Mon, Dec 03, 2012 at 19:00:53 from 67.177.11.154

I haven't tried the coconut, but I was thinking about it. Definitely will get it next time now!

No injury so great nor cut so deep that the mango can not seep into & provide pure healing.

"Mango only has 1/2 the healing power of a 4 foot stuffed elephant"

The apricots are pretty yummy too. Hang in there. You are stronger than this injury. Now give that stuffed animal a squeeze.

From Matt Poulsen on Mon, Dec 03, 2012 at 22:14:24 from 98.202.242.213

Hi Andrea! I know you'll figure this injury thing out soon. You've sure kept an optimistic attitude through all of this! Your best races are in the future.

From bdase on Tue, Dec 04, 2012 at 06:02:47 from 67.214.231.170

Keep your head up! Your positivity and patience will be rewarded Andrea. I like the dried peaches :).

Those mangos are yummy.
