Personal:

I am originally from Knoxville, TN and moved to SLC with Jake in 2010. I started racing in 2011 and had some great success before a major injury hit me in July 2012. I had athletic pubalgia surgery in May 2013...then again in Sept 2014 and am still trying to get back to my old self. Although running is my true passion, I love doing pretty much anything active outdoors - backcountry skiing, backpacking, biking, etc.

I've been running for the Saucony Team since 2011. I enjoy representing the brand and really do believe they make the best shoes :)

I work as a Quality Engineer for BD Medical in Sandy.

AM - 25 minutes on the elliptical, almost felt like running :)

Well the hip pain is down to about 30% of what it has been in the last 6 weeks...somehow it managed to migrate down into my hamstrings instead. Hopefully it'll keep moving down until it exits out of my feet and I'm good to go!

I tried taping up my hamstrings with kinesio tape this morning to see if it helps at all. Anyone had success with this?

PM - Weight training class then sat outside in the sunshine watching co-workers play volleyball. What a nice lunch break!

PM2 - Blading for 2.5 miles.

Teena Marie taped my hamstring for me with KT tape last Saturday and maybe it's all in my head but I think it really helped. It's worth a shot right?

I think I missed this part -

"First, though, learn how to stop."

That's why you blade while I run and can stop you since I am like a human jersey barrier

I love love love KT tape. I sprained my ankle a year ago and used it to continue to play soccer and run while it healed. I ran my first half with a KT-taped ankle and it went great. The trick is watching the videos so you know how to do it right. Plus, science!! Science is the best.

Best of luck.

You're right, you just gotta chase that sucker right down your leg and out your big toe! I'm glad your feeling at least a little better.

I had luck with it when I tore my calf about 3 years ago. It allowed me to run on it at a slow pace.

I like the whole idea of your pain migrating down through your toes!!! :) :) :)

The latest research/RCTs are very positive for kinesio/KT tape when applied correctly for the right type of impairments. I am trying to remember if I have read any specifically regarding the hamstring muscles. I know I have recently read some current research in regards to shoulders and knees with awesome results. The trick truly is to apply it correctly for whatever you are trying to accomplish. I taped Rachelle's in a way that the tape facilitates the particular hamstring that was giving her grief. The KT tape youtube videos are awesome if you fall into one of the most common running injury categories. The ones posted by Lumoslnc are the best. The PT doing the demos is Chris Harper and he is FANTASTIC (a local PT that I did a KT taping clinic with for Wasatch Running recently).

I would be happy to help you with it if you would like. I would at least recommend trying it. If it doesn't help you can simply tear it off!! (Seriously, you could swing by my house in the evening or you could drop by the PT school at the U sometime when I am between classes if that is more convenient.)

Congrats to Jake!!!! WOW!!! :) :) :)

Thanks Teena!! I checked out the videos today and tried to put it on correctly :) I'll see how it feels running tonight. Then maybe will have to take you up on your expertise if it doesn't seem to do anything.
