Following some amateur racing advice and taking a rest day 2 days before my race instead of the day before.  Didn't want to take the day totally off, so I ran a mile.

Wasn't mentally in the game today, due to my fiancee's near drowning experience on the lake yesterday.  That type of panic, mixed with a poor diet and no sleep = the exact opposite of my recipe for 5k success.  Usually I am disappointed about a bad race for a few days but today I just felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude that Ryan is alive (in the hospital).  Happy 4th!

2 mile warm up, 200 and 1000 meter time trials with 5 minutes rest in between.  Tried to time using my less than functional ipod, so I'm approximating 32 seconds and 3:40,  Not impressed.  I know my legs aren't recovered from Wednesday's race yet though, they just didn't have and couldn't get that springy feel.  I was just gonna go an easy 5 today but I saw that workout for the day in my Lydiard book and it just seemed so much more appealing.  And now I can slip back into my normal weekly routine despite the interruption of a Wednesday race.
