Running is about third or fourth on my priority list, but that's pretty high.  I'm a busy guy.  My family comes first.  I've got a few great runners in the bunch - watch out for them!

Incredibly, this morning I felt no sharp twinge or even tightness in the right achilles or calf.  A little general soreness now and then, but hardly anything at all.  Very strange, as yesterday and the day before it was quite painful and worrisome.  I really thought I was going to have to take some serious time off.  Orange County was the cure!  Did another 7 miles on the sand.  A storm is moving in so it was breezy but I felt strong and the surf was so energizing!

I would have thought running on the sand would put more strain on the achilles.

You are so right and, in hindsight I probably took a big risk by running at all on Wednesday and Thursday (after how it felt Tuesday and Wednesday morning), let alone down on the sand. I kept to the packed sand close to the surf, so it wasn't quite as tough, but I definitely could have made things much worse. Fortunately, it appears not to have been a tear or pull since I've now run several days and one long run with no lingering effects. Hopefully I can stay solid and injury free - I'm getting ready for Boston in April and feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. Thanks for noticing!
