Running Accomplishments:

I was a much better runner in my 20's and 30's.  When I was 52 I had a 28.5 5K and a 58.5 10K, and I would like to surpass those times.

Long-Term Running Goals:

Run a 1/2 marathon.  I would actually love to run a full marathon, but am not sure if my body would break down with injuries training for one.  Update fall 2010: still no 1/2 marathon, but I did run all the way up city creek and back home (14 miles)  - absolutely gorgeous!!

Personal:

My name is Adele Kimbrough - I'm 58 and have been running (off and on) since I was 16.  My body is not well designed for speed, and I'm a bit arthritic, but I'm having fun trying to figure out just how fast I can be.  And this blog helps!

2011 Deseret News 10K Finish Line.
Dang - missed my goal by 4 seconds!

Guessing at mileage.  A wise person once told me to get motivated about running again, I should do 11 hill repeats followed by a fast mile.  Well, I decided I would do 7 hill repeats followed by a slow mile.  The 7 hill repeats felt hard but awesome.  But I only made one lap around the soccer field because Midnight kept stealing two other dogs' tennis ball (he lost his own two balls by that point!) and the other dogs owner seemed to be getting kind of kind of miffed at me. Onward and upwards!

Needed something and since this morning's planned running got derailed I decided to go up to the end of Terrace Hills and run up the dirt road until it flattens out.  Walked to the 2nd mini jump (2 minutes), then ran the rest of the way up (14 minutes).   No idea how much actual running mileage, so I'll put one mile.  Felt good!

Drove to top of Terrace Hills, then walk/ran the trails to the west.  Pretty much ran the uphill and level trails and mostly walked the downhill parts.  Probably 3-4 miles total and am guessing 1.5-2 miles of actual running.  Took Midnight and he behaved pretty good - gives me hope for future!
