Finally started learning how to run in '09 after totally botching it up for the 14 years prior and dealing with chronic IT injury...have had zero IT band pain since fall of '09 and have run way more than ever before in my life...loving it.

Personal:

I'm married to Nan Kennard and she kicks my butt at running.  She has beat me handily in every race we have done together except for a downhill mile we did once.  She is my running inspiration.  I'd like to run a marathon with her someday and actually keep up.

7 Miles - 1:10 - Pace: 10 min/mile - Avg HR - 126 - Elevation: 700 ft

Wow, that was slow.  I started out slow because I was warming up and my feet felt a bit stiff.  
Also the ground felt really cold for the first 5-10 minutes since my feet were bare and it was in the 30's initially.  I was really focused on making this run as comfortable on my bare feet as possible as compared with the 5K I did on New Years which resulted in pain because I pushed the pace too hard.  That resulted in a really slow pace today because that's what felt best on my feet.  Really quick light steps, but not pushing the pace at all.

 The result is that my feet feel great and other than the warm up, and a few sections of  really gravelly road, my feet were comfortable the whole time.

I ran 7 miles on pavement in my FFs for first time yesterday, net elevation change of 500 feet vertical up Logan canyon. I was amazed that my feet felt fine. But that is as close to barefoot as I am getting. but still amazed by the result. going to try to put in about 12-14 a week in the five fingers for awhile and see how it goes.

maybe I will run the bolder boulder in the fives. are you planning on running it? if so lets definitely meet up.

Thanks. Yeah, it seems to re-surprise me every time I run in the cold, how they feel great after warming up.

red - That's great that you're feeling good in the FF's. That would be fun to qualify for the A wave, I bet I could get down to a 18:20 5k or 38 min 10K, since I did it barefoot in 19:39. But I guess I'll see how it goes, because I'm more interested in running far than running fast right now. That's a long way out though...I'm guessing I will be able to qualify and that would be fun to finally run that race, especially starting in the A wave.

Adam - yeah it is nice to see the low HR sometimes...and I'm noticing slight improvement in HR vs. pace. It's interesting to me to track HR as well as elevation change and pace so I can see a more accurate comparison over time.
