Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

Perfect clear, morning in Little Rock; mid 50s.  Felt great for a smooth 8 Miles at 7:00/mile, 15 seconds below Marathon Pace.  I had almost forgotten why I loved early morning runs so much...it's great to see other runners out there, working to achieve their own personal goals, or perhaps, just getting the day started off on the right foot.

Decided to upload a picture of my dad and me at my home in Little Rock. I had already changed out of my gear, but this pic followed the "Rollin' on the River" 5K last summer in Little Rock. I ran my personal best on a certified race course, averaging slightly above 6:00/mile, which was good enough for second in my age group and sixth overall. My dad, Mark, kicked butt as usual and won his age group. He's never been big on long distance races, but I'll never touch his 5K times from the '80s and '90s!!!

I'm proud to be in a running family, and my brother, dad and I still enjoy running an occassional race together, or even still, knocking out a few miles before a big dinner during the holidays.
