Personal:

Pride necessarily sprouts and grows; a pride that can only come from relentless kneading of unwilling flesh, painful months of grinding and burning away all that is heavy, all that is strength-sapping and useless to the body as a projectile. --John L. Parker, Jr., runner/author

2.5 Mile warm-up at 7:30/mile followed by 4X400m repeats at 87 seconds (5:48) and 4X800 repeats, three at 2:57 (5:54) and one at 2:45 (5:30).  I jogged easy for 200m between the 400m repeats and 400m between the 800m repeats.  "Cooled down" with 1 Mile at 6:50.

8 Miles total.

Perfect evening, still and cool, and I pushed it pretty hard because I was enjoying myself.

Looking forward to a scheduled day off tomorrow followed by a 12 miler on Sunday.

Nice workout Wesley. Do you do your track workouts by yourself? That's some dedication.

By the way, thanks for the nice comment about my dad.

Typically yes, I do my speed work alone. In fact, other than an occasional easy run with my brother or dad, I do almost all my running and training by myself. This isn't necessarily by design or choice, but with two small kids and other obligations, it just happens to be what works best for me at this point in my life.

Funny you ask, though, because while running with my brother (who is home from D.C.) on Saturday, I told him that I would like to find someone in the area to push me on tough training runs.

That said, I enjoy the heck out of running, and there's something to be said for the time alone with my thoughts.
