Went to the URC/FRB St. Patricks 10k with the family. My three oldest kids ran the 200M race. Connor came in second. After the race Jed didn't want to be done, he said "Let's race again." Jaxine did great as well, I think she was the first girl to finish, but she might have been the only girl.

My race went well. I didn't pay attention to my splits as I went along. I was just enjoying the run along the river.  The course was an out and back, with a mile and 5k that started at the same time. After the 5k turn around point I could finally see who was actually in my race.

Davy Crockett was just ahead of me and took a wrong turn, and like a fool I followed him. It was just a small detour which may have cost us ten seconds. I passed him a few times but he ended up beating me. My goal was sub 7 minute miles. If I include my detour and the fact that the course was a little long, then I did it. 6:59 per mile. woohoo.

After the race we went to Carl's Jr and I got two Spicy Chicken Sandwiches and a Big Hamburger.

Update - It was such I nice day that I had to go for a trail run. I headed North and then went down the lower portion of Wild Rose Trail, then turned around and came back up it. I then continued North to the Bonnevile Shoreline Trail and run up to the radio towers. I then headed back home. 10.68 miles total.

kids race Here is the start of the kids race. My kids from right to left are Connor, Jed, and Jaxine.

Great job, and that is fun that your kids ran as well. I hope you enjoyed the nummy burgers!

It was great to meet you and Susie today. It was so much fun and I enjoyed every minute of that race. My favorite part was probably watching your kids do their race. That was awesome!

Hope to run with you soon.

Sounds like a great race aside from the little detour. I can't believe you did another 10 the same day. I could barely squeek out 10 at an easy pace this morning after a good nights sleep.

Ha, ha, you shouldn't have followed me. I followed the guy in green ahead of me. I should have known better, wasn't paying attention.

Someone (not Mary Ann) told me later that the detour was the intended route for the race, but that there were no markers indicating so. Not sure if that was speculation or truth.

Thanks so much for posting this. I love the look on all the kids faces. This is a keeper for sure!

Sue - is that you with the 103 bib on? It looks like you're about to kick your kid for not being in first place.

Lol. Burt you crack me up. Is that what it looks like? My twins ran. Those two are night and day. I have one who wanted to hold my hand the whole time and the other is number 111 and has a very determined look on his face. I told them they just had to beat mommy and not to worry about the other kids. They both beat mommy and were very proud of that fact:) My husband is holding the baby in the background. Kind of a fun pic. Perfect for the scrapbook!

Ah, I didn't notice you were holding hands with anyone. Just thought you were winding up.

From crockett on Tue, Mar 24, 2009 at 13:19:49 from 216.49.181.128

I think she is getting ready to kick the kid in front, so her kid can catch up.

Must be a man thing, I could totally tell she was lovingly guiding her children!

That is a great picture. You can see the determination in all three of the kids faces. They look like runners.

Becca? Where the heck have you been?
