Well, I rethought my running routes, and realized that I can do mostly streets if I change things up a bit.  So that's what I did, and I had a good run.  It was a nice progression--ending with some sustained sub 8 pace, which felt pretty good.

Maybe I can learn to love running again, but it'll probably still be a while.  I did kinda like my run today.  My problem lately is that 9:30 has been about as fast as I'll go, and I've been content as long as my pace is below 10.  So maybe if I continue to push a little, it'll be good.  I'll have to run in the streets though, as its hard to get a good pace going on snowy sidewalks.

Nice going - once you get some clear sidewalks/streets and get used to the faster pace you'll be cruising like that all the time.

I'm glad you found some different routes and change of pace. You will be able to run yourself out or your running rut.

No complaining about pace! I'm doing 11's and I hate it...but I don't want to hurt...so I keep slugging along...sigh

It's so easy to just settle into a running rut and I feel like I've been going through the motions since about July!

I avoided the blog for most of last semester because at that point I felt like it was a distraction that I couldn't handle, but I'm glad I started up again. I find your encouragement helpful, even if sometimes I get distracted when I should be grading (like right now).

So thanks, Stacy and Joe!

And April, I'm still hoping that we can plan to run together one of the weekends that I get to Chicago. What are you doing President's Day weekend? You got off that Monday (the 21st)?

It's easy to get into a rut in anything. Hang in there. Maybe more cross training would help. Something you enjoy doing. Our youngest daughter ran track and cross country for 6 years. She has no desire to run right now. I think after she gets out of school she might take it up again. She is just burned out and she does not like the pressure of competition.

Tracy--I do have that day off...where would you like to meet?
