Ran an easy 5K.  I wasn't sure that I wanted to do it in the first place, but I compromised by just running it.  My goal was an 8:30 pace.  The first two miles of it I ran with the kid's PE teacher.  I knew I was holding her back and finally she listened to me and took off.  The last mile I ran with a kid whose brother is in Caleb's class.  I think he's going into 6th grade.  He was seriously dying, but he ran most of the rest with me, but I couldn't keep him with me in the last 1/4 mile.  I am sure I was pissing him off.  He finished only 15 seconds or so behind me.

I think I ended slightly under 8:30 pace.

It was hot.

Way to beat the 6th grade boy.

I know. I'm a winner. I also got 3rd place in my age division, but I was in line for food when they made the announcement. I was hungry and the line was long, so I stayed in line.

Good job! Boys hate to get beat by a girl. :)

Nice! I think you made the right decision to stay in line.

In my first 5K, I barely out-kicked a 10-year-old girl at the end. I stopped short of talking trash afterward.
