Honestly, I need to get my PR's compiled. This is something I started a year ago and then lost my file. I have them on my old computer but need to dig them out. There is still more I need to find.
Short-Term Running Goals:
February 1st: Frosty 5k
February 22nd: Run for the Cookies
April 6th: Scranton Half Marathon (with Wes)
July 19th: New York Giants Run of Champions
October: Gettysburg Half Marathon
On top of some races, need to lose some weight to get to a good competition weight and also need to get rid of all my injuries. I would also like to drop my times
This year I would also like to hit 1000 miles during the year.
Long-Term Running Goals:
I think that eventually I would like to qualify for Boston. That is something that weighs on me but not as bad as not completing a marathon. Think I will take the approach of trying to complete a marathon within the next 3 years and then we will see after that.
I also want to keep dropping my times and stay competitive in age groups and get competitive overall.
Personal:
I am 29 years old, soon to be 30 and I have the best most supportive wife (Courtney) and we just had our first child (Isaac) in December. I ran track most of high school and one year of Cross Country. I then went to college where I ran for a year on the college team. Since then I have been trying to get myself back on track with my running, I run more days then not but I have not been able to have one year without some type of injury. I would really like to get back to being injury free and a competitive runner.
Pretty good run today. 1:10 which means I finished it at 7:36 minute miles. Not to bad, I hope that I can keep that pace during the half marathon. I am having some aches and pains which I will need to dull out during the race. The top of my foot is still hurting and whatever pain in my hip/butt is still there. I will just keep monitoring my issues and make decisions day to day.
30 minute tempo run. 10 minutes slow, 2:30 @ 8mph, 2:00 @ 8.5 mph, 1:00@8.8mph, 2:00 @ 8.5mph, 2:30 @ 8mph, and 10 minutes slow. Didn't feel terrible. Very tired afterwards. Feet felt like they were sliding in the shoes.
Took it easy tonight but the fun part of the run was I got to run the dog and then run the baby. It was a good night! Nice to enjoy a run without having to worry.
This was an interesting run. Used my new shoes and that helped greatly. Today was supposed to be an easy 3 miles but it turned into something faster. I don't know why but I felt great and my body held up well. Which allowed me to run 7:56 per mile pace. My first mile was kinda slow because I was adjusting to the shoes but after that, everything felt great and I motored on through it. Not trying to run fast but it all felt good so I cannot complain.
