Well, I guess I need to update the blog on my race...
I was so thankful for the weather and the beautiful day we had for this race. I couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather, other than just slightly less wind. For the first mile or 2 we actually had snow. It was amazing to start a marathon with snow. The course was pretty much all downhill and fast. I felt really good and was able to keep my splits almost exactly at 7 min/mile until about mile 24. At that point the course became much flatter, the sun was out, and there were a lot more hills because we were in the city. I didn't expect all the hills to end the race, but somehow I was able to push through them.
As I got close to the finish line I could hear my coach Rhett yelling and pushing me along. I was really thankful for him being there because he really helped me push hard the last 1/4 mile or so. He kept reminding me that every second was important. I crossed the finish line at 3:07:22. I have been working/trying for 4 years to BQ so I was very excited to finally accomplish that goal. I am not sure if my time will allow me to run Boston, but either way I am happy with my time and the effort I put into the run.
