Feeling good today. The prednizone-aided funk I was in the last few days is gonzo, hopefully for good now that I'm done with the steriodial meds.

Went to PT this morning and hadn't planned on doing anything else since I've been buried at work, but I had a bit of a breakthrough work-wise, so I decided to do a quick 30-minutes on the bike.

Felt great, dare I say I actually enjoyed the bike? Guess it was only 30 minutes and it helped that the tunes I was listening to were mostly upbeat and cheery to go along with my sunny disposition.  All the Small Things (Blink-182), Rise Above This (Seether - I like the line "I'll mend myself before it gets me"), and Cheer Up Boys (FooF). Also some slow, trippy Pink Floyd tunes.

Was able to work my HR up into the high 150's.

I will be on a bike tonight! My IT band is killing me. I hit 8 miles and and it starts hurting me. If you have any suggestions please let me know/

Phew. Much better selection of tunes....I won't have to question your sanity today. Glad things are looking up.

TylerS: Try rolling it religiously...a few times a day, especially right before and after a run. That's helped with mine any time it gets tight. I'll try the stretches periodically but they never seem to do much.

Tyler I read you last blog entry and I'm wondering if you aren't actually dealing with runner's knee (i.e. chondromalacia) problems rather than IT band. You described the pain as being below the kneecap which is the classic sign of runner's knee. IT band pain on the other hand is on the side of the knee. Check out this link and see if it describes what your dealing with.

This is a very common injury, although it's one of the few injuries that I've never experienced. If I recall correctly it has to do with imbalance between the quads and hams and I believe biking is just what you need to strengthen the quads to hold up that patella better so it doesn't sag and give that pain below the cap.

Tom, nice bike effort to hit 150, keep hard on the resistance, keep the quads rock hard.
