I ran the 1500 today. I was hoping to get anywhere from 4:00 to 4:10. Which would have been a pr equivalent.

I warmed up about 2.5 miles and stretched. The weather was not good, 36 with a light snow. There were about twenty two guys in the race, and I was seeded 12th. I got a good start, and was in sixth or seventh place through the first 400. I came through at 65. I was passed by two guys on the backstretch. I should have tried to keep up with that front group, but I thought I went out too fast. I went through eight hundred meters at 2:12-2:13. I was still in pretty good position, but not feeling great. Neal caught me on this lap with five hundred meters to go. My third 400 was 70, and I was slowing down. The last 400 meters of the race I did in 73. I don't know what happened, it was just really, really slow.

So my converted time for a 1600 was about 4:35. This is eight seconds off my pr. I know I am faster than last year, I think it was just inexperience. I wasn't used to running a  mile, and I may have gone out too fast for the conditions. The funny thing is, I wasn''t very tired, and I'm not even sore the next day. I think I can push it a lot harder, and will try again next weekend.

I cooled down 2.5 miles with Neal.
