Running Accomplishments:

I started running in 2008 while I was a stay-at-home-mom.  I discovered this blog in July 2010 and followed the advice from the blog to gradually improve my distance/speed.  I achieved various PR's in 2010/2011.   I went back to work part-time in 2012-2015 and switched to mostly running trail runs.   When I got prego with my third child in 2016, I stopped running and started work full-time.   After a 7 year hiatus, I returned to running in 2022.  I have alot of work to do to get back in shape, but looking forward to the challenge!

So I ran to the corner 1 mile to meet Tim and Ash. Did not feel like running. I wanted to sleep so bad! Got to bed late because of track last night. I would have run the whole thing at 10:00 pace if it were up to me.

When I got home, I took a nap. My 4 year old rooster boy woke me up 45 minutes later, "Mommy, it's wake time".

Tomorrow I'm running 15 with the group. I'm going to try to go 8:00 miles until the half way point and then speed up and get down to 7:30's the second half. We will see though, sometimes the plan changes based on what other people want to do. If someone starts out 7:45's, I'll probably keep up cuz I can't help myself.

I did 7:45 average last weeks 14 miler and I did 7:34 average for the last 15 miler. My marathon goal pace is 7:50/m. I'm being told that it is not good strategy for me to run these long runs at marathon goal pace.

I know it seems backwards, but I run slower all week than I do on Saturday long runs. It's like my long runs are also my tempos. I enjoy it this way because I'm motivated to run fast when I'm around other people on the trails.

Hope you have a good run tomorrow! I need to learn more about training methods. I hear what you've been told about the long runs at marathon goal pace and don't really understand it. I just bought a book (recommended by JG) called Run Less - Run Faster. I'm hoping it will give me some insight to performing better :-)

Yeah, there seems to be a few different theories out there. I treat every Saturday like a race. Sometimes the only motivation I have to run during the week is so that I will be fast enough and have enough endurance to keep up with the people I want to on Saturdays. I'm sure I'm doing everything wrong.

Me too... but I'm still having fun :-)

Let's discuss the long run pace tomorrow.... I have some thoughts...BTW, do you know what the plan is?

Nice job this week!

We're doing 15. It looks like we're going south on the trails 1 mile out and then looping around and going back north in the same direction as last week. This time we will turn around at the normal 6.5 mile mark (which will be actually 8.5 since we did that extra 2 mile loop in the beginning). Does that make sense? Basically, we're add this 2 miles in the beginning so that we turn around 1 mile sooner than we did last week but the overall mileage will be 1 mile more.

Good deal - Thank you! See you in the morning!
