Running Accomplishments:

I started running in 2008 while I was a stay-at-home-mom.  I discovered this blog in July 2010 and followed the advice from the blog to gradually improve my distance/speed.  I achieved various PR's in 2010/2011.   I went back to work part-time in 2012-2015 and switched to mostly running trail runs.   When I got prego with my third child in 2016, I stopped running and started work full-time.   After a 7 year hiatus, I returned to running in 2022.  I have alot of work to do to get back in shape, but looking forward to the challenge!

My next big race is Dallas Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon on March 27th.   I had positive splits at the Cowtown half marathon which I think is indicative that my endurance is fading.   I need to do more long runs of 12-15 miles in preparation.

So today my sister babysat for me.  I went to Trinity trails.  I have no idea what the deal was with mile 2.  Around mile 4 I really settled into a nice rythem.  I only stopped once for water at mile 6.  Around mile 10 I started feeling fatigued and the outside of my right knee started bothering me a little.  Only confirmed to me that I really need to do more long runs.

I was just kinda running what felt comfortable.  I saw that at 13.1 miles, the clock was 1:45.  So I was pretty happy that my slowish, comfortable pace was a 1:45 half.  My goal for racing the R 'n R is 1:37.

Hey Fast Lindsey,

Looks like a pretty good run to me. I need to do some of those longer runs too in preperation of my marathon in a couple of months. How's your foot feeling, did the pain go away (from the top)? I noticed you run Trinity Trails...that's where my Callie (my daughter) runs and rides. I've been there one, wow it's nice. I really think you need to break the 1:36 mark on your half coming up...and I think you will!!!

My cousin is naming her baby Kali (pronounced like Callie) when she is born in June. I am doing the baby shower. No sooner did I say to my cousin that I'd never known anyone by that name did I meet you online... weird how things like that happen?!

My foot is doing ok. I think I bruised it by tying my shoe too tight. Long runs are very time consuming not just because they take time to run but because of the recovery afterwards... I don't get to relax with my job.

I love the Trinity Trails- there's like 30 miles of trails. I always run the trails on Saturdays with the Fort Worth Running Company store located on 7th street. They put water and nuun out for us every 2 miles. They also have track workouts at the TCU track (which I can never make because of my babies). If your daughter is ever looking for a group to join or shoes to buy, I recommend them! It's a father/son owned store and they are really wonderful people. They are personally interested in everyone's specific goals and have great advice... the group just feels like a family. Joining that group was one of the best things I have ever done!!

If you are ever in Fort Worth, let me know! I'll have to meet you guys at the trails for a run!!

Hi Fast Lindsey,

That's cool about the name!

Funny, I checked my shoe laces this morning before my run and I think I've been over tightening my shoes too. Each time I put them on I simply tighten them and I believe they gradually become too tight so from now on I'm going to completely loosen them before I re-tie them.

Thanks for the other information, I'll pass it to Callie and definitely try and get in touch with you while we're up visiting her.

Hope you have a good run today!
