Running Accomplishments:

I started running in 2008 while I was a stay-at-home-mom.  I discovered this blog in July 2010 and followed the advice from the blog to gradually improve my distance/speed.  I achieved various PR's in 2010/2011.   I went back to work part-time in 2012-2015 and switched to mostly running trail runs.   When I got prego with my third child in 2016, I stopped running and started work full-time.   After a 7 year hiatus, I returned to running in 2022.  I have alot of work to do to get back in shape, but looking forward to the challenge!

I went to the podiatrist yesterday about my plantar fasciitis.  The x-rays showed some calcification in the plantar fascia where the tissue had torn.  The doctor gave me a steriod shot in my heel - ouch!  I'm supposed to go get these shots every week for 3 weeks.   He also gave me some completely different inserts than I had before.  They go over my heel.  I don't even land on my heel when I run.  He said this will give the plantar fascia support so it doesn't stretch too much.  The doctor is also a runner so I trust him even though that sounds weird.  He showed me a new way to lace my shoes so they don't put too much pressure on the top of my foot where I have inflammed nerves.  He didn't seem too concerned about the inflamed nerves and the x-rays didn't show any problems with my bones.

This is the way I'm supposed to lace my shoes.

He didn't tell me not to run... he just said take it easy on the running.  Hmmmmm...

So my foot feels SOOOO much better today.  It still hurts but not near as bad.  That shot really helped!  I'm thinking about taking today off but I'm meeting my group on Saturday for 12.

So, take it easy on the running..... Interesting comment with your doc being a runner! Does he realize what that means! Finding a doctor that is a runner is a plus for sure. When I was having some issues with PTT, I finally decided to go to a podiatrist. I opened up the phone book to the yellow pages and checked out pictures. Do you think you can tell a runner from a picture. I was close, a cyclist! Anyway, he helped me get back on track. Pretty judgemental of me! Good luck with your run later.
