Running Accomplishments:

I started running in 2008 while I was a stay-at-home-mom.  I discovered this blog in July 2010 and followed the advice from the blog to gradually improve my distance/speed.  I achieved various PR's in 2010/2011.   I went back to work part-time in 2012-2015 and switched to mostly running trail runs.   When I got prego with my third child in 2016, I stopped running and started work full-time.   After a 7 year hiatus, I returned to running in 2022.  I have alot of work to do to get back in shape, but looking forward to the challenge!

I'd like to report that today it is 20 degrees outside with the windchill factor of 14 degrees.  I saw on the news that it is 21 degrees lower than the average temperature for this time of year.  Yuck!

I'll also report that I still have not sold anything on Craislist.  My Craigslist plan for making enough money to buy a treadmill is not having much success at the moment.   I think maybe the yucky weather is to blame.  Yeah, that's it.

I wish I could move to San Diego and change my handle to CaliforniaLindsey.  I much prefer the California weather ....and political atmosphere, for that matter.  I'll go ahead and share this on the blog --> My immediate family and I are the only Democrats we know here in Texas.  And in Texas, it's considered quite immoral to not be a Republican.  The only way good people are Democrats is if they are gullible idiots.  Thus, my friends and extended family believe me to be..... a gullible idiot.  This in spite of the fact that I have two "political" degrees from the University of Texas - one in Government and one in Economics.  Ha, ha!   Regardless, I've learned over the years that there is no point to advertise my views.  I'm not going to change anyone's mind about anything, not the least of which that I am a gullible idiot.  The only way one would feel comfortable expressing Democratic views in Texas would be if one lived in Austin.  On the political map of Texas, Austin is like a shiney blue island oasis surrounded on all sides by hot red lava.

Don't get me wrong, I love Texas.  It's a wonderful, beautiful state.  I love the people here, too, despite this political thing.  People are very friendly and kind here.  They are also hard working and honest.  They just listen to too much talk radio.....

Oh, listen to me go on and on...  I'm just depressed that the weather here is interfereing with my running...

Hmm, try 1 degree Farenheit in Denver this morning. I miss running in Texas, lived in Grapevine for 3 years. DFW has the best running community I have ever seen in a city. Are you in a club?

You should move to Austin. Lots of Dems there right?

Oh wait... just read your comment about that.

I feel a lot better about my funk after reading about your funk. Also, I liked your old picture with the Bud Light better.

Treadmill advice. A lot of places here that sell higher end exercise equipment here have one year, no interest plans. That's how I bought mine. Have you checked that out?

Steve,

1 degree? Oh my gosh! I do not know how ya'll do it! There's a great running community here! I live near Benbrook, if you know the area. I'm in a club but I don't usually run on weeknights with them. Maybe I should start!! It'd still be cold and dark, but at least if I'm with other people, it won't be lonely too!!

Rob,

Yeah, I thought about that store credit deal. My husband won't go for it. I'm limited because I'm a stay at home mom and I don't make my own salary. He's against buying stuff on credit... and he's also against buying stuff for my running in general. It's one of my struggles.

I will not be detered though. I am very stubborn. Where there is a will, there is a way. I will get my treadmill somehow.

Maybe I need to put that picture back up because if I don't get out there running again, I may resort to drinking some budlight!!! I'm missing my exercise endorphins!

I'm sorry about all this Lindsey. My wife is a nurse who currently works very part time, so I make most of the money. Yet she still pretty much decides how we spend it. She also knows that I would go insane without running and eagerly encourages me to do things like fly to Austin to run a race. Pretty cool!

Maybe your husband will come around.
