Running Accomplishments:

I started running in 2008 while I was a stay-at-home-mom.  I discovered this blog in July 2010 and followed the advice from the blog to gradually improve my distance/speed.  I achieved various PR's in 2010/2011.   I went back to work part-time in 2012-2015 and switched to mostly running trail runs.   When I got prego with my third child in 2016, I stopped running and started work full-time.   After a 7 year hiatus, I returned to running in 2022.  I have alot of work to do to get back in shape, but looking forward to the challenge!

It's been 3 weeks since I pulled a calf muscle and stopped running.  The weather was perfect for running so I thought I'd give it a try today.  My calf was ok at first but then 1/2 mile out, it started hurting.  I turned around to run back to my house but I didn't want to stop running.  After experimenting I discovered that if I changed the way I ran, my calf didn't hurt at all.  So I just kept going and did a 4.5 mile loop.

Normally, I'm a toe runner.  Always have been.  Today I found that if I landed flat footed, no pain.  It felt very strange to run this way.  I felt slow and clumbsy.  I was kinda surprised I was doing 8:00ish pace.  Plantar Fasciitis is a stubborn injury.  I still had pain in my left foot.

It felt good to run again.

Hey, welcome back - my wife runs on her toes too...I tried to do it one day and it feels totally weird, so I'm not surprised the opposite would be true for you. Hope you can continue to run until healed.

Thanks. I hope I'm really back and don't have anymore issues. I've read the most efficient way to run is to land in the center of your foot... as opposed to the toes or the heel. Makes sense but it is very difficult to change your form.

Hope that you are able to get out again. Injuries are just no fun.
