Goal Type:

Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

PRed in Malibu Nov. 2009 with a 4:00:25, I think.  Shy of sub-4 hours and shy of BQ 3:45.

Other marathon times:

May 2009: Orange County (4:21) and LA (4:15)

Feb. 2010: Surf City (4:09)

Took a couple years off from running in 2013-2014. Haven't done any marathons since 2011 though I started doing half marathons again in 2017.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Still want to qualify for Boston (3:55).

Want to qualify for the NYC Marathon by running a 1:42 half marathon.

Upcoming Races

Long Beach Half Marathon Oct. 8

Surf City Marathon Feb. 2018--I'm training to try to BQ.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to keep running marathons into my 70s.

Personal:

Keep close to Nature's heart...and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods.  Wash your spirit clean. --John Muir

I stole this from Tom's blog because I really like it:

Hudson tidbit: "When it's done right, the long-term training process is like an asymptote. The line that the training process moves toward but never reaches is 'perfect training'.....while it's impossible to train perfectly, it is possible to train better and better."

6 miles in 58 minutes.  It was hotter than yesterday, and I felt a little sluggish from yesterday's run.  It was a bit harder but still fun.  I'm trying to get my runs more regular than I've been doing.  This week is 4 x 6 miles, instead of 4 miles here, 6 miles there, etc.  Then I'm going to start moving back to 5 days a week by the end of summer.  I'm still taking the increases very slowly, but I plan to be back around 40 miles a week in a few months.

6.15 miles in 58:20.  Skipped pilates to get in my full 6 miles today.  No regrets.
