Goal Type:

Boston Qualifier

Running Accomplishments:

PRed in Malibu Nov. 2009 with a 4:00:25, I think.  Shy of sub-4 hours and shy of BQ 3:45.

Other marathon times:

May 2009: Orange County (4:21) and LA (4:15)

Feb. 2010: Surf City (4:09)

Took a couple years off from running in 2013-2014. Haven't done any marathons since 2011 though I started doing half marathons again in 2017.

Short-Term Running Goals:

Still want to qualify for Boston (3:55).

Want to qualify for the NYC Marathon by running a 1:42 half marathon.

Upcoming Races

Long Beach Half Marathon Oct. 8

Surf City Marathon Feb. 2018--I'm training to try to BQ.

Long-Term Running Goals:

I want to keep running marathons into my 70s.

Personal:

Keep close to Nature's heart...and break clear away, once in awhile, and climb a mountain or spend a week in the woods.  Wash your spirit clean. --John Muir

I stole this from Tom's blog because I really like it:

Hudson tidbit: "When it's done right, the long-term training process is like an asymptote. The line that the training process moves toward but never reaches is 'perfect training'.....while it's impossible to train perfectly, it is possible to train better and better."

Had a blast running this 10 miler in the rain.  Felt good the whole way.  Don't know why the pains come and go, but I was super grateful to have a day of no pain!

Got a late start this morning and only had time for 6 miles.  Did it in about 58 minutes.  Didn't have to run in the rain today, but another downpour is on its way.

I intentionally kept my weekly mileage the same as last week even though I felt like running more.  I'm finally feeling healthy and am going to practice restraint so as not to overdo it again.  If I'm not running more than 50 miles a week by the time I taper for the LA Marathon, I'm not going to sweat it.  I'll just enjoy a 26 mile run at a comfortable pace.  BQ is NOT everything.  :)
