In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

Today with the team most people needed around 8 or 9 miles so I wasn't alone with my higher miles!  We ran out on Foothill and then cut up Sunnyside to get to the golf course to go up to Wasatch.  We ran all the way to Thunderbird and then kept going up on Foothill onto the Bonneville Shoreline Trail for a little bit.  We turned before too far because we needed to leave mileage for the strides when we got back.  Hilary, Lauren, Nikki R., and I ran back along Wasatch so we wouldn't be by the traffic and breathing the exhaust of it.  It was windy going back so I tried to draft behind Nikki and Hilary and I think Lauren was doing the same (we were being subtle about it).  I led for some of the time but I was really cold!  When we got back to campus we did our strides between the Burb and the swimming pool so that the wind would be blocked.  We did 8 strides and then a few drills, then added one tenth of a mile to get to a full 9.

Today for workout we did somewhat of an adventure run.  We ran to Guardsman and then across and down to 1500e.  We took that to Harvard where we turned down and went to 1300e.  We ran along there and then some of the group crossed and went down to Liberty, but I kept going with Hilary and Nikki all the way to 2100s.  We took that down to 1100e and went to 1700s, then down to 900e and over to 1300s, then down to the park.  We did a lap, and then did our strides over to 900s to the 600e exit of the park and ran to the Trax station at Trolley.  I still needed a little less than half a mile so I ran up to the 900e station.

Today we did another adventure-type run.  We ran down Guardsman and then to 1500e.  I saw my grandma, who celebrated her 90th birthday yesterday, on a walk with her friend so the team told her happy birthday as we ran by :)  We went up one of the streets to get to 1700e and took that to Emerson, then cut down to 1600e over to 1700s and back to 1700e again over to 2100s.  Then Hilary, Nikki R., Lauren, Andrea, and I ran a clockwise lap around Sugarhouse to the light at 1500e and ran 15th and Guardsman back to campus.  I ran around for a few more minutes until I was at 9.

This morning we had our final lift of the semester.  I didn't get to do the same stuff as the team but oh well.  I got a sheet to take home to do over the break.

This afternoon we ran up to 11th Avenue and then all the way down into City Creek and out by the Capitol.  We ran down the hill behind it; the grass on the curb was way bumpy so my ankles hurt after that :(.  We ran to the Trax station by the library and barely caught it coming into the station.  We were at about 7 miles.  I decided to be done because my ankles were hurting.  I went to the training room and got a bag of ice for each.

Today I didn't run with the team because I was helping my dad with stuff at work.  When I went running I misjudged how cold it really was so I didn't make it very far before I decided to turn around and go home.  I ran to Sugarhouse and did an outer lap until I was at 2 miles, then turned and ran back.  I had hoped to do a fartlek workout but I was just not very motivated or mentally strong or smart enough to dress well for the day.  I should have considered that it was getting colder anyway as the sun was setting.  In addition to all that, when I got to the grass at Sugarhouse my ankles were hurting.  I think its the shoes, but also all the times I've rolled my ankles are probably getting me.  I stopped at 3 miles and then just walked.  I considered stopping at Amanda and Sarah's house to use their phone to have Abigail come pick me up but I decided not to.  But then guess who ran by me?  Amanda and Sarah :)  I ran half mile with them, just until I got to my house.  I am glad they ran by when they did.

Later in the evening, 2 hours after I ate dinner, I went to Steiner with the intention of making up my miles I gave up on.  I had wanted to go to 5 and a half on the treadmill but got off at 2 and a half.  My ankles hurt even on the treadmill.  my right one is worse.  I probably could have just sucked it up and did the other 3 miles but this was a very weak day for motivation.  Oh well.

Today was a better day :)  After furniture shopping for 3 hours I was dreading going for a run.  But then I had a brilliant idea which was to go run on Pipeline!  I wanted 10 miles so Pipeline was perfect length (almost) and I would be above the inversion!  Good thing I thought of it when I did because if I waited any longer I wouldn't have had time because I wouldn't finish until after dark.  Just in case, I took a flashlight with though.  My mom did too.  The first part of the trail was a bit icy and snowy but not too bad.  The part further on was nice though and I felt overdressed a bit for how warm it was with the sun, but I needed what I had on especially as I was finishing!  When I got off the trail I still needed .6 so I went up the road and back.  When I got back in the car the thermometer said 23 degrees!  And gradually got warmer as we drove down the canyon.  We only had $2 in change that my dad has in his car for parking so my mom told the person at the booth she was a senior so we could get the discount and pay $2 instead of $3...  Overall good day and I'm happy that I was able to get a good run in :)
