In my freshmen year, I lettered in both track and cross country. I also got the Rookie of the Year Award in cross country, and the Freshmen of the Year Award in track. At regions for XC I was 7th. At state I was 65th. In track at regions I placed 3rd in the mile and 2nd in the 2 mile. At state I was 17th in the mile and 13th in the 2 mile.

Sophomore year I was a cross country captain and I lettered again. I was 3rd at regions and 12th at state. At track regions I was 3rd in the mile and the 2 mile. I also anchored the winning medley relay team.

Junior year I got a stress fracture about a month before the cross country season started, but made a great comeback with a 2nd place finish at regions.  At state I placed 6th, and I broke 19 minutes for the second time in my racing history.  Team captain again. In track I shattered my old PRs and was doing well until I got a stress reaction.  After 3 weeks off I built my strength back up and performed well at state, earning 4th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.  After that, I was invited to the Great Southwest Track Meet in Albuquerque, where I took 5th.

My senior year in cross country I was a captain again, this time with Amanda and Natalie.  This season I was injury free so I got to run competitively at invites.  At state I took 3rd.  At Footlocker Western Regionals I outkicked a girl on the track to finish 10th, which qualified me for nationals the next weekend.  I beat both of the girls who had beat me at state in that race.  At nationals I took 22nd and beat 6 of the girls who had beat me at regionals.  Going into the outdoor season the first Invitational I attended was the Davis Super Meet where I qualified for state in the 1600 and the 3200, and I broke the meet record for the 3200 in an 11:01.29, the previous record was an 11:17.  I had a strong finish to my senior season and finally claimed a state title.  I ran the fastest 1600 and 3200 at state for any division, claiming the double crown in those events, and earning the athlete of the year award :)

Now in college, I run for the University of Utah.  I lettered my freshman season of cross country, and made it to regionals in the 5k in track.

Sophomore year I improved in cross country.  In track I raced the 1500, 5k, 800, 10k, and the mile of the DMR before repeating the 5k at conference and then the 10k at regionals.  Placed 28th behind a lot of seniors... so nationals next year!!

Today we did conditioning in the weight room.  We started with a vertical lap in our school, and then did leg lifts, lunges, frog jumps, duck walks, alligators, skips, heel and toes walks, and buttkicks.  Then we did 3 sets of 10 squats with a bar, and then 3 sets of 20 situps and 10 pushups.  Then we went for a run.  We just ran along 1300e to 2100s and back.

Today I ran to the track for warmup.  Then I did a mile of speedchanges and stretched.  Then I did six 400s.  My times were 1:25, 1:25, 1:22, 1:23, 1:20, and 1:19.  I did a lap recovery after each.  I had originally planned on just doing 4 and then doing 200s but after the 4th 400 I felt like I could do more so I did.  After the 6th I still wanted to do more but I knew I probably shouldn't.  For cooldown I ran home.  I'm just a little bit sore (some of it is probably from yesterday) so I think just the six 400s were good.

Today I ran to the cemetery.  This time though, I did the loop past Sugarhouse opposite of the way I usually run.  Then on the way back, along 1700e I stayed until 1700s, so I got in some decent hill work too.  It took me about 53 minutes, so I had a better pace than I'm used to, and it didn't feel like I was pushing more than usual.

Today we flew to Texas.  At the hotel I ran on the treadmill for about 3 miles (I got too bored to do more, I had wanted  to do 4).  Then I did 10 minutes on an elliptical.

Today the treadmills in the fitness room weren't working.  So I did 20 minutes on an elliptical.  Then with Amanda I ran laps around the parking lots of the surrounding hotels for 20 minutes, I'm calling it 2 and a half miles.  Then I took an ice bath for 10 minutes.

Today I started warming up with Bill and Dakota.  We went over parts of the course.  Bill explained to me what he wanted me to do at each part of the course during my race.  I did about 2.5 miles warmup, and then I went and changed shoes.  Then I had some water and a Gu and went and did strides by the starting line.  There were 21 people registered in my race, but I don't think everyone was there (there were probably above 15 though).  At the start of the race I did what Bill had instructed me to and relaxed the first part of the race and then go out harder if I needed to.  A girl got about a 15 second lead, but since it was just the start I didn't focus on her yet.  At the parking lot I pulled away from the group I was with and started to focus on closing the gap between me and the leader.  The course was nice, not too hilly.  I had to keep throwing in surges to work on closing the gap, but I could tell that she was also surging.  I also noticed that around one of the corners she looked to see how much of a lead she had.  Still, I kept my focus and worked on keeping strong surges.  At about 400 left I hadn't closed the gap that much and I knew I would really have to push my kick to try and catch her.  I was getting pretty close, and then finished just 4 seconds behind her (her time was 18L26.92).  The next girl came in at a 20:09 I think.  It was a great race and a learning experience.  I've not really had an experience like this race before, where I was focusing on one person the whole time.

Afterwards I did about a 2.5 mile cooldown as I cheered for the races following mine.  Then when the young women finished I ran about a half mile cooldown with them to Mexico to get a picture with the team and all the medals by the border.  Some of the younger girls also came.  This was a really fun race and I'm excited for nationals in 3 weeks :)
